I had the pleasure of working with Detric Cook to create the VFX for the dark comedy short film "Miracle Wood" directed by Johny Rey Diaz.
Tasks ranged from animation and design to motion tracking, rotoscoping, and compositing. The film's retro-vintage aesthetic guided the CRT design of the television.

Before & After
The antagonist of the film is the character in the screen. The soft glow and increased saturation invokes a gentle and caring atmosphere that draws our protagonist in.
Inspired by late-night infomercials, the advertisement is stylized with VHS scanlines, dropped frame-rate, heavy pixelation, blown-out colours, and a mix of every font possible. The television frame and the heavy bulge create the illusion of being close to the screen.
Mocha was essential to accurately track this shot. Each item with compositing (floor, chest, television, couch) had a unique plane and parallax.
